However, in my research I found another version that a lot of critics are using so the differences bear some comment. In the other version, there is an addition of an extra stanza that becomes the fourth stanza and a line and a word of the third stanza are changed. This new version of the third stanza reads:

"We passed the school, where children strove

At recess-in the ring-"

The change of "children played" to "children strove" indicates more of a struggle...
